01
Arrive at the town's pace.
Once you have settled in, head out for a short walk. Instead of marking every stop on a map, choose a direction that interests you. Time spent looking at the mountains is part of the journey, too.
Pause at a shop that catches your eye. With fewer fixed plans, you can follow the weather and your mood. Leave enough time to enjoy the way back.
02
Make a pause part of the plan.
Sit down during your walk and talk about what you have noticed. On your own, read a few pages. A break without the next appointment in mind changes the pace of the day.
Check the opening days of any places you hope to visit. Keep another option in mind, so a closed door can lead to a different kind of afternoon.

03
Leave a little for the morning.
An overnight stay lets you see the same town in its morning light. Revisit a lane you noticed yesterday, or take your time getting ready to leave. You do not have to plan every hour.
Include the time after your walk when imagining your stay. Arrange any meals or transport that need booking, and leave a little space around them.
One way to spend a night.
