Plan the journey before the tasting.
If you plan to taste wine, arrange a journey that does not involve driving. Think about both the outward and return trip, using public transport or a taxi. If walking, check the distances and weather first.
Allow for carrying any wine you buy, and avoid fitting in too many visits. Returning to your stay before evening leaves time for food and a rest.

Make time beyond the bottle.
Back at your stay, remember what drew you to the wine. Talking about the day is part of the pleasure. Enjoy it at your own pace, without feeling that you need to finish the bottle.
